The marine black box for professional vessels

BRNKL Black captures the operational picture that conventional monitoring systems miss. This onboard data recorder collects, time-synchronises and stores vessel telemetry from cameras, sensors and crew-impact inputs. You can replay full trips, investigate incidents and maintain secure evidence that stands up to scrutiny.

BRNKL Black tactical RIB deployment

Deployed across defence, patrol and enforcement operations, BRNKL Black provides secure recording and military-grade vessel monitoring where every detail matters.

One onboard data recorder. Six operational roles.

Record every trip

Capture synchronised video, vessel telemetry, alerts, GPS position and sensor data into one secure onboard record.

Replay incidents in full

Use trip replay to review synchronised video, vessel telemetry, position, event triggers and impact data for any incident investigation.

Monitor vessel and crew impacts

Bring together vessel telemetry, crew-impact data and operational events to understand exposure during demanding high-speed operations.

Support condition-based maintenance

Connect to onboard systems and data networks to identify issues earlier and plan maintenance before failures become critical.

Operate offline-first

Data stays on the vessel in secure storage unless you choose to export or transmit through your own network or communications route.

Integrate with existing systems

Connect NMEA 2000, digital switching, cameras, CAN bus and sensor networks into a single onboard data recorder.

What BRNKL Black records and connects

Connect to NMEA 2000, digital switching, onboard cameras, sensors and other vessel systems. BRNKL Black brings all vessel telemetry together into one secure recording environment.
Built-in sensors track vessel motion and impacts. Optional external inputs add crew-impact data for a more complete understanding of what the vessel and personnel experienced during operations.
Connect compatible camera systems to capture synchronised video across the vessel. Video is recorded alongside vessel telemetry, alerts and other operational data for complete incident investigation.
BRNKL Black supports GPS vessel tracking where required. For specialist operations, the unit includes a physical kill-switch to disable transmitting and receiving components, including GPS.
Configured trip reports can be generated from selected vessel telemetry, creating a clearer post-operation record for debrief, fleet monitoring or internal review.
Replay a complete trip with synchronised video, GPS vessel tracking, engine data, sensor data, wave and crew impacts and alert events on one time-aligned dashboard.
BRNKL Black stores data on the vessel in secure storage. Data stays local unless configured to transmit through a private network, tactical network or existing communications equipment.

Supporting incident investigation and compliance on high-speed craft

MGN 436 Amendment 5 focuses on reducing injury risk from whole body vibration, severe shocks and repeated impacts on small vessels. It reflects growing best practice around shock-mitigating technology and operational data. BRNKL Black does not replace risk assessment or operator judgement. It gives your team a stronger evidence base for incident investigation, trip replay and exposure review.

For direct helm-facing impact feedback, pair BRNKL Black with Wave Guardian or the most suitable impact monitoring pathway for the application.

Optional crew impact and shock exposure integration

For specialist high-speed craft assessment, BRNKL Black can be configured as part of a wider impact and shock exposure monitoring approach. This may include body-worn or helmet-mounted sensors, vessel-mounted accelerometers and, where specified by Mission Dynamics, an optional MAREC-related shock exposure data pathway.

Example use case: crew impact analysis with vessel telemetry

BRNKL reports that Black was used with a Special Operations Forces organisation to fuse vessel telemetry and biometric sensor data, helping analyse the physical effects of high-speed manoeuvres on personnel. The system combined body and head acceleration data from wearable sensors with vessel-mounted inputs, then brought those data sets together for synchronised review.
