BRNKL Black Marine Black Box and Mission Recording System
BRNKL Black is a secure offline-first vessel data recorder built for defence, police, patrol, coast guard and professional marine operations. It brings together onboard video, vessel systems, location, impacts, alerts and mission playback in one time-synchronised operational record.
For military craft, enforcement vessels, patrol boats, high-speed workboats and mission-critical marine operations.
The black box for boats
BRNKL Black captures the operational picture that conventional monitoring systems miss. It collects, time-synchronises and stores data from onboard systems, cameras, sensors and crew-impact inputs so operators can review missions, investigate incidents and protect the integrity of their evidence.
Deployed across defence, patrol and enforcement operations, BRNKL Black provides the secure recording foundation for mission-critical vessel operations where every detail matters.
One secure recorder. Six operational roles.
Record the mission
Capture onboard video, vessel activity, alerts, location and sensor data into one local, time-aligned record.
Replay incidents
Review missions through synchronized video, telemetry, vessel position, event triggers and impact data.
Monitor vessel and human factors
Bring together vessel impacts, crew-impact data and operational events to better understand exposure during demanding high-speed operations.
Support condition-based maintenance
Connect to onboard systems and data networks to identify issues earlier and support maintenance planning before failures become critical.
Operate offline-first
Data stays on the vessel unless you choose to export or transmit it through your own network, private platform or communications route.
Integrate with existing systems
Connect NMEA 2000, Modbus, digital switching, cameras, CAN bus and additional sensor networks into a single recording platform.
What BRNKL Black records and connects
Useful evidence for high-speed craft risk review
MGN 436 Amendment 5 focuses on mitigating the risk of injury from whole body vibration, severe shocks and repeated impacts on small vessels. It also reflects growing best practice around shock-mitigating technology and data. BRNKL Black does not replace risk assessment, procedures or operator judgement, but it gives professional teams a stronger evidence base for mission review, incident analysis and exposure discussion.
For direct helm-facing impact feedback, pair BRNKL Black with Wave Guardian or the most suitable impact monitoring pathway for the application.
Optional human impact and shock exposure integration
For specialist high-speed craft assessment, BRNKL Black can be configured as part of a wider human-impact and shock exposure data approach. This may include body-worn or helmet-mounted sensors, vessel-mounted accelerometers and, where specified by Mission Dynamics, an optional MAREC-related shock exposure data pathway.
Built for mission-critical vessel operations
Defence and military craft
Secure data recording, mission playback and human-factor visibility for demanding operating profiles.
Police and enforcement vessels
Review operations, onboard events, vessel systems and evidence in one synchronized record.
Coast guard and border operations
Retain clearer operational context around live missions, patrols and incidents.
High-speed patrol craft
Combine video, impacts, vessel behaviour and operator decisions into a post-mission review tool.
Specialist workboats
Support maintenance insight, onboard event review and secure equipment monitoring.
Professional fast craft operators
Strengthen incident review, crew debrief and management oversight where operating conditions are demanding.
Integrated mission recording and vessel data capture across deck, helm and engine spaces. BRNKL Black brings video, telemetry and sensor data together in one synchronized timeline for complete operational visibility.
Example use case: vessel and crew impact understanding
BRNKL reports that Black was used with a Special Operations Forces organisation to fuse vessel data and biometric sensor data, helping analyse the physical effects of high-speed boat manoeuvres on personnel. The system combined body and head acceleration data from wearable sensors with vessel-mounted acceleration inputs, then brought those data sets together in real time for review.
