BRNKL Portable Rapid-Deployment Vessel Monitoring System

Temporary vessel monitoring without a permanent installation. BRNKL Portable combines vessel tracking, cameras, onboard data and configurable alerts in one rugged, self-contained case.

Move the system between vessels, deploy it for a specific operation or leave it onboard to monitor a vessel during transit, storage or investigation. Choose BRNKL Blue for remote monitoring and operational oversight, or BRNKL Black for secure recording, encrypted data storage and detailed mission playback.

For vessel deliveries, detained and abandoned craft, police and security operations, sea trials and small commercial boats.

Vessel intelligence where a permanent installation is not practical

BRNKL Portable packages the monitoring equipment, power management and communications hardware into one protective case.

Place and secure the case onboard, connect the required antennas and select the appropriate power source. The system then starts collecting the information specified for the deployment.

For a straightforward security application, this might include GPS position, geofence alerts, a camera and power-loss monitoring. For a vessel trial or operational assessment, the system also connects to NMEA 2000, additional cameras, external sensors and onboard networks.

The configuration moves between different vessels without permanently altering each boat.

Applications

Designed for temporary, mobile and investigative work

Vessel transit and delivery

Track a vessel during road transport, sea delivery or movement between yards. Review its route, location and onboard conditions without fitting a permanent monitoring system.

Abandoned or detained vessels

Deploy temporary monitoring on an abandoned, detained or seized vessel. Receive movement, geofence, power and security alerts while maintaining a recorded history of events.

Police and security operations

Establish short-term surveillance on a vessel of interest. Add GPS, cameras and configurable sensors according to the operational requirement.

Trials and evaluation

Record GPS, video, NMEA 2000 and sensor data during sea trials, equipment testing and vessel acceptance work. Review the information on one synchronised timeline.

Small craft monitoring

Add monitoring to RIBs, workboats, tenders and other small vessels where space, installation time or electrical capacity is limited.

Temporary fleet cover

Move the system between seasonal vessels, charter boats, relief craft or newly acquired boats while a permanent fleet installation is planned.

Capabilities

Choose the information you need to monitor and record

GPS vessel tracking

Monitor current position, route history and vessel movement. Configure geofence alerts around a berth, anchorage, harbour or operating area.

Live and recorded video

Connect compatible IP cameras for remote viewing and onboard recording. Review video alongside GPS and vessel information.

NMEA 2000 data

Connect to a vessel’s existing NMEA 2000 backbone to collect available engine, fuel, speed, heading, depth and navigation data.

Battery, bilge and power monitoring

Monitor selected vessel systems and receive alerts for low battery voltage, bilge activity, shore-power loss or other configured events.

Security sensors

Add door, hatch, motion, ignition or auxiliary sensors through the available input connections.

Impact and movement data

Use the internal motion sensors or additional equipment to record significant impacts, vessel movement and operating conditions.

Local and remote access

Connect locally through the case Wi-Fi network. Remote access is available through cellular, Wi-Fi WAN, Starlink or another onboard internet connection.

Synchronised event review

Bring video, position, vessel data, sensor readings and alerts together on one time-aligned record.

Deployment

From case to active monitoring

01

Position and secure

Place the case in a protected location and secure it against vessel movement.

02

Connect power

Use the integrated battery, the vessel’s 12 or 24 V DC supply, or a correctly regulated solar and battery arrangement.

03

Connect the required equipment

Add GPS, cameras, NMEA 2000 and any additional sensors specified for the deployment.

04

Monitor and record

Access the system locally or remotely. Receive alerts, view cameras and review the recorded operational timeline.

The transport case is waterproof while closed and capped. Once external cables are connected, install it in a location protected from direct rain, standing water and heavy spray.

Configurable package

Specified around the vessel and the operation

BRNKL Portable is not a rigid, one-size-fits-all kit.

Mission Dynamics specifies each package around the vessel, deployment period, communications coverage and information required. The case might provide simple GPS and camera monitoring, or a wider recording package connected to vessel electronics, multiple sensors and specialist impact-measurement equipment.

BRNKL Portable with the MAREC device

The portable format is also available with the MAREC device for shock and impact assessment.

In this configuration the case is used to assess individual vessels for shock and impact loading during sea trials and through the development of any fast-moving vessel. MAREC records high-frequency motion alongside the BRNKL Black mission record, so impact events can be reviewed against position, video and vessel data on one timeline.

The same case moves between craft, which suits trials programmes where several hulls, loading conditions or seating positions need to be measured under comparable conditions.

FAQ

BRNKL Portable: common questions

What is BRNKL Portable?
BRNKL Portable is a self-contained vessel monitoring and recording system installed in a rugged protective case. It provides temporary GPS tracking, video, alerts and vessel-data recording without requiring a full permanent installation.
Does it need to connect to the vessel’s electronics?
No. A basic configuration operates with its own power, GPS, communications equipment and camera. Connecting to NMEA 2000 or additional sensors adds engine, navigation and vessel-system data.
Does it need an internet connection?
An internet connection is required for remote viewing and alerts. Local access and onboard recording remain available without internet access. BRNKL Black is designed around offline-first recording.
How is the system powered?
The package uses an integrated rechargeable battery, a 12 or 24 V DC vessel supply, or an appropriately regulated solar charging and battery system. USB-C PD power is also available on selected configurations.
Does the internal battery run the whole system?
Yes, where the case is supplied with an integrated system battery. Operating time depends on battery capacity and the cameras, router, sensors and communications equipment fitted.
Is the case waterproof?
The protective case is waterproof for transport when closed and all ports are capped. During operation, connected ports and cables need protection from direct rain, heavy spray and standing water.
Does it work on small boats?
Yes. The portable format suits RIBs, tenders, workboats and other small craft where there is limited room or no requirement for a permanent installation.
What is the difference between Blue and Black?
BRNKL Blue focuses on remote vessel monitoring, cameras, GPS and alerts. BRNKL Black adds secure encrypted recording, offline operation, detailed mission playback and professional data capture for defence, enforcement and commercial operations.
